A New Soulblight Gravelords Spearhead Caught Our Eye

We had one of those very relatable hobby moments recently: someone drops a cool new box in chat, and a minute later we are already looking at terrain inspiration too.

Michał shared the new vampire-themed Spearhead for Stas, and honestly, it immediately grabbed our attention. A fresh Soulblight Gravelords box is exactly the kind of release that makes us start thinking in several directions at once: army building, painting plans, and of course whether it might accidentally become the next project sitting on the desk.

New vampire Spearhead

There is just something about the undead range in Age of Sigmar that works every time. Vampires, skeletons, the whole gloomy aristocratic horror vibe — it is a strong theme, and in Spearhead format it feels especially tempting. These boxes are dangerous in the best possible way: compact enough to feel achievable, but exciting enough to send us straight into list ideas and paint schemes.

At almost the same moment, Michał also threw in a link to a very cool fan-made Skryre-themed board for Warcry. Different game, different aesthetic, but still very much in that inspiring hobby zone where one nice find leads to another. The board had exactly the kind of energy we love seeing in community projects — lots of character, a clear theme, and the sort of terrain work that makes you want to build something immediately.

That second link was a good reminder that purchases in this hobby rarely stay just purchases. One new box can lead to thoughts about matching scenery, a themed board, or even trying a different skirmish game because somebody built a table cool enough to justify it.

So for now, this was a small but very familiar moment from our chat:

  • new vampire Spearhead spotted,
  • immediate interest triggered,
  • terrain inspiration appeared right after.

A completely standard Warhammer chain reaction.

If this Soulblight box ends up on one of our hobby tables, we probably already know how it starts: “we are just having a look.” And then suddenly there are assembly lines, basing ideas, and bookmarked terrain projects.

Michał also shared a Reddit post showing a Skryre-themed board for Warcry — a really nice bit of terrain inspiration for anyone who likes their battlefields full of character.

Sometimes that is all it takes to brighten a hobby day: one cool box, one cool board, and a few minutes of imagining future projects.
