First Skaven Faction Terrain: Gnawholes Before a Match Against Lumineth
We had one of those very relatable hobby moments this week: a fresh purchase, a bit of excitement, and an upcoming game already giving it extra meaning.
Michał picked up his first faction terrain for Age of Sigmar — Gnawholes for his Skaven. That is always a fun milestone in an army project. Faction terrain has this special vibe: it is not just another unit for the shelf, but a piece that makes the whole army feel more complete and more “its own” on the table.
And the timing is perfect, because Michał’s first duel is coming up next week, and the opponent will be Lumineth. That sounds like a very flavorful matchup already: sneaky, chaotic Skaven contraptions and burrows versus the elegant, disciplined forces of Hysh.
There was also a quick bit of hobby commentary in the chat before the purchase reveal — the model in question was described as looking a bit like an Admiral with an added banner and winged hussar-style wings, with praise for the paintjob too. Very strong energy in that description, and honestly exactly the kind of spontaneous comparison we love in group hobby chats.
For us, posts like this are part of what makes the hobby so enjoyable. Not every update needs to be a fully painted army or a giant event report. Sometimes it is simply that moment when a new box lands, plans start forming, and the next battle suddenly feels very real.
So now we wait for the upcoming game and for those Gnawholes to hit the table. Skaven faction terrain has so much character that we are already curious how much mischief it will cause against the Lumineth.
Good luck in the duel, Michał — yes-yes.
