Counting Points, Building Kharadron, and Making Plans for Next Week
A small army-building evening with Kharadron Overlords
Sometimes a hobby evening starts with a simple message: “count the points.” And honestly, that was enough to get the gears turning.
This time we were looking at Kharadron Overlords for Age of Sigmar, trying to see what could be put together from the collection and whether it was already at a stage where we could start doing something meaningful on the table.
Where the list stands
We started with a quick rundown of the army:
- Arkanaut Company – 100
- Arkanaut Frigate – 300
- Aether-Khemist – 80
- Arkanaut Admiral – 125
- Endrinriggers – 120
- Grundstok Thunderers – 135
That gave us 860 battle points in the first count, and then the total got corrected to 1010 points overall.
So yes — at that point it stopped being just a pile of cool sky-dwarfs and started looking like something we can actually work with.
“Now we can actually start doing something with this.”
And that really sums up the mood well.
From list-building to actual hobby progress
The best part is that the point count immediately translated into action.
end3r declared he was getting to work on assembling the Thunderers and the Aether-Khemist, which feels like exactly the right kind of next step. Those are the moments we like most in the hobby — when list planning stops being theoretical and turns into clippers, glue, and models on the desk.
At the same time, michalbe went straight into painting mode. Even better, the whole exchange clearly sparked some extra motivation, because by the end of it there was already weekend talk about maybe painting another Kharadron model just for the fun of it.
And honestly, that is one of the nicest things about group hobbying: one person starts counting points, another starts assembling, someone else gets the urge to paint, and suddenly the whole project has momentum.
Next week: gaming plans are forming
There was also some early scheduling for next week. Apart from Thursday, pretty much any other day looked good for a game.
Then Staś chimed in, first saying he would happily come by and watch, congratulating the close result of the previous game — and then, after a bit of encouragement, saying he might come to play as well, time permitting.
We always like these moments too. A casual “I’ll come watch” can very quickly turn into “okay, maybe I’ll actually bring an army.” That is usually how the best club nights begin.
Why we like posts like this
This was not some giant milestone hobby update. No fully painted army reveal, no event report, no dramatic campaign finale. Just a very familiar kind of evening:
- checking what the collection adds up to,
- realizing it is already playable,
- deciding what gets assembled next,
- getting the itch to paint,
- and making loose plans for another game.
But honestly, that is the backbone of the hobby. These small conversations are where armies really begin.
Current Kharadron snapshot
For now, the Kharadron project looks like this:
- around 1010 points counted up,
- Thunderers and Aether-Khemist queued for assembly,
- painting motivation fully activated,
- and a decent chance of getting another game in next week.
That sounds like solid progress to us.
We will see where this goes next — but for now, the sky-ports are open, the points are counted, and the hobby energy is definitely there.
