Necromancer and the Last Stormfiends on the Painting Desk
We had one of those very familiar hobby chat moments this week: trying to line up a casual meet-up, checking who can make it, and in the meantime pushing a few more models forward on the painting desk.
This time it was mostly about finding a good moment to roll some dice, even if not everyone could make it right away. Michał was checking who might be up for a game, Stas had to pass for this week but was already in for the next one, and there was also an open invitation to just drop by and hang out even without an army ready yet. Honestly, we really like those moments too — not every hobby evening has to be about a full game.
But the painting side of the conversation is what really caught our eye here: the Necromancer is underway, together with the last Stormfiends.
That kind of sentence says a lot in very few words. You can almost feel that satisfying end-of-project energy — the moment when a unit is nearly done, the final big models are on the table, and another character is getting attention at the same time. It is one of the best phases of the hobby: close enough to the finish line to feel momentum, but still with enough work left to enjoy the process.
From the chat alone we do not want to invent a full painting recipe, but even a quick progress shot like this is enough to capture the mood. There is something very motivating about seeing a character model like a Necromancer beside the last pieces of a unit project. It feels like the desk is telling a story: one force getting closer to completion, another centerpiece model slowly coming to life.
We also like how naturally these hobby threads mix together for us. A quick question about playing turns into a small status update from the painting table. Someone cannot make it this week, someone else is invited to come by anyway, and in the background brushes are still moving. That is pretty much the heartbeat of the hobby group.
So this one is a small painting checkpoint: the last Stormfiends are being wrapped up, and a Necromancer is in progress. Short update, but a very relatable one.
