A Regiment of Renown Is Joining the Army

We had one of those hobby moments where army-building suddenly becomes very real.

Michał dropped into chat absolutely hyped about a new unit and, honestly, we get it. In his own words: these units are just awesome. At the time of writing, he already had 8 models done, the last 2 were still printing, and right after that the plan was to start printing the Knights.

The core idea

The key question from the chat was whether this was going to be played as a Regiment of Renown.

And yes — that’s exactly the plan.

That already gives the project a nice shape. It’s not just “some cool models” anymore, but a concrete piece of an army list with a role and identity on the table. We always like that stage of a project: when the excitement of cool minis starts turning into an actual force.

What else is going into the list?

Besides the Regiment of Renown, Michał mentioned a very straightforward supporting core:

  • 10 Warriors
  • 5 Knights
  • Lord on Daemonic Mount

That sounds like a compact but very characterful starting force. Solid infantry, fast elite cavalry, and a properly dramatic mounted lord to tie the whole thing together.

Printing and buying

This is also one of those very relatable mixed hobby projects, where some things are being printed and some things are bought as official kits.

The unit itself is being printed, the last couple of models were still on the way, and then the Knights were next in line for the printer.

The Lord on Daemonic Mount is the one exception: Michał is buying that one as a Games Workshop model from 2d6, and it was already ordered when we talked.

We really like this kind of approach. Sometimes the best hobby momentum comes from not overthinking it — print what you want to print, buy the centerpiece you really want, and keep the army moving.

Why we like this kind of army-building

There is something very satisfying about this stage:

  • a unit that immediately gets people excited,
  • a clear decision to run it as a Regiment of Renown,
  • supporting units already lined up,
  • and a big character model on the way.

That is basically the perfect recipe for turning enthusiasm into progress.

We are definitely curious to see how this force looks once the last prints are done and the Knights start rolling off the printer too.

For now, this is exactly the kind of update we love most: short, chaotic, very enthusiastic, and full of hobby energy.

More when the army starts coming together on the table.
