Another Spearhead Win for Slaves to Darkness — and a Brief Return to Kill Team
Battle report from the table
Michał dropped in with another Spearhead game, and this one ended the way his recent games seem to like ending: with a win for Slaves to Darkness.

What makes this one especially funny is that by the middle of turn 3, he was basically left with just cavalry. And yet, despite the army being reduced that hard, the game still went his way.
That probably says a lot about how solid the mounted part of the roster feels in Spearhead. Michał’s immediate conclusion after the game was simple: he thinks he would have been just as strong running only cavalry.
And honestly, we love those moments in small-format games where the battle report turns into a mini field test for a unit type. Sometimes you don’t need a full spreadsheet breakdown — the table just tells you straight away what is doing the heavy lifting.
A quick detour into Kill Team
After that, there was also a short Kill Team game.

But this one came with a much less enthusiastic verdict. Michał still can’t really get into Kill Team, and his summary was… let’s say extremely direct: for him, the game feels like an Excel interface more than something that flows naturally on the tabletop.
That’s maybe a bit brutal, but also very relatable. Sometimes a system just doesn’t click. Even when we like the idea, the models, or the setting, the actual play experience can bounce right off. And that’s fine too — not every Warhammer game has to be our game.
Final thoughts
So the short version of the evening:
- Slaves to Darkness Spearhead keeps delivering
- cavalry apparently refuses to stop being good
- Kill Team still hasn’t won Michał over
A very efficient hobby update, really. One more win on the Spearhead side, one more strong opinion on Kill Team, and another reminder that sometimes the most dangerous thing on the table is just a bunch of angry riders who refuse to die.
