Old Orcs, a Metal Wyvern, and a Bit of Club Logistics

A small slice of hobby life from our chat this time: a bit of league scheduling confusion, a bit of summer-calendar pain, and then suddenly — a very charming detour into old-school greenskins.

We started with club logistics. The topic was the next CP league and whether there would be another one later in the year. As End3r pointed out, the first league ran from March to May 2025, so there is a good chance the next one after the current cycle could land around September.

At the same time, Michał noticed that the second league is actually scheduled for 02.06.2025–21.07.2025, with the roster submission deadline on 02.06.2025. That immediately ran into the classic adult-hobby problem: real life. Michał mentioned he would be away for a large part of that window — back on 16 June, and then away again from 2 July until the end of the month. So yes: one of those moments where the calendar is a stronger opponent than any army list.

And then the conversation took a turn we always appreciate.

A stash from the old days

Wilini dropped a few photos and wrote, roughly, “speaking of Old World…” — and what followed was a glimpse of his brother’s old miniatures. Specifically, a collection of older Orcs & Goblins models, including what sounds like a genuine little treasure: a metal wyvern.

More classic greenskins

Wilini described it as a brown wyvern, adding the wonderfully human detail that his brother is colorblind. Honestly, that just makes the whole thing even more memorable. Old miniatures always carry a bit of history with them, but details like that give them real personality.

The brown wyvern

He also mentioned that if anyone is collecting Old World Orcs, he could at some point go through the cupboards at his family home and see what is still there. From the sound of it, there are some Orcs and Goblins in the stash, though the exact number and condition still need checking. The best part? He said he could give them away for free.

That immediately got the reaction you would expect in a Warhammer group. End3r noted that Stas would probably be happy about that news.

Another look at the old collection

The joy of old models resurfacing

There is something special about moments like this. One minute we are trying to figure out league dates, deadlines, and who is actually in town long enough to play games. The next minute, someone opens the door to a family cupboard full of old greenskins and suddenly we are all thinking about square bases, classic sculpts, and whether a metal wyvern counts as a “rare find” or a “drop everything and go pick it up immediately” find.

For us, this is a big part of the hobby too. Not just new releases, not just tournament prep, but these little rediscoveries — old armies, forgotten collections, models painted years ago, and the stories attached to them.

If Wilini gets the chance to do that cupboard-dive later on, we are very curious to see what else turns up.

And yes, the metal wyvern absolutely deserves another mention before we end.
