Slowly, Slowly: The First Three Orruks Are Ready

Stas has officially entered the “slowly, slowly” phase of army-building — which, as we all know, is still infinitely better than leaving boxes untouched on the shelf.

Yesterday he glued together his first three orruks, and before the glue had properly settled, he was already sitting down to build the next one. That is exactly the kind of momentum we like to see.

First three assembled orruks

He is assembling them according to a list, so this is not just random hobby energy — this is hobby energy with a plan.

The best part of the whole exchange was probably Michał’s reaction:

“Jesus, these orruks are so funny.”

And to be fair, that really does capture something important about these models. They have a ton of character. They are chunky, expressive, and just a bit ridiculous in the best possible way. Not sarcastically funny — genuinely fun.

Stas also pointed out something we immediately appreciated: they look very close to the ones from The Old World. For anyone who likes mixing ranges, reusing models, or just comparing how different Warhammer systems handle greenskins, that is very good news.

Later came the direct comparison — and the verdict was: they are a bit smaller than the TOW ones after all.

Orruk size comparison with The Old World models

So not identical, but close enough to spark ideas immediately. As Ender summed it up perfectly:

“That gives you a perfect proxy, just put them on round bases.”

And honestly, that is one of our favourite parts of army-building conversations. You start by gluing three models, and five messages later you are already discussing cross-system use, proxies, and basing plans.

For now, the project is moving exactly as advertised: langsam langsam. But it is moving, the first three are done, the next one is on the desk, and the army is no longer theoretical.

That is how it starts.
