Kharadron at Dawn: A 2K List While the Crew Was Still Waking Up
We love those hobby days that start in complete chaos and somehow still end with army ideas taking shape.
This time the morning soundtrack was a mix of people crawling out of bed, someone diving into the metro, travel delays on the Warsaw–Łódź route, and the general feeling that the day had started way too early. In the middle of all that, End3r dropped a proper bit of hobby fuel into the chat: a 2,000-point Kharadron Overlords list for Age of Sigmar.
And honestly? That is exactly the kind of energy we respect.
The morning mood
We had the usual group-chat flow:
- some of us were already up and moving,
- some were only just becoming functional,
- some were fighting public transport,
- and some were apparently trying to wake up the ancient ones at dawn.
It had that classic “we’re all doing different things, but still hobbying together” vibe. Even when the logistics are a mess, a good list can immediately focus the day.
The list
End3r shared the following Kharadron Overlords build:
2k battle Kharadron Overlords list (1930)
Heroes (490)
- Arkanaut Admiral – 130
- Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit – 150
- Aetheric Navigator – 130
- Codewright – 80
Battleline (310)
- Arkanaut Company – 90
- Arkanaut Company – 90
- Grundstok Thunderers – 130
Skyvessels (900)
- Arkanaut Ironclad – 460
- Arkanaut Frigate – 300
- Grundstok Gunhauler – 140
Units (230)
- Endrinriggers – 110
- Skywardens – 120
Total: 1930 points
First impressions
The thing that jumps out immediately is that this is a very “proper Kharadron” list. Big boats, support heroes, mobile utility pieces, and enough infantry to make the whole fleet feel like it has a job to do.
The core identity here is obvious:
- an Ironclad as the centrepiece,
- a Frigate backing it up,
- a Gunhauler adding another mobile threat,
- and a set of heroes that suggest utility, support, and list-wide synergy rather than just brute force.
That already makes it fun from an army-building perspective. Even before getting into the fine details, it feels like a fleet rather than a random collection of units.
What we like in this build
Big skyvessel energy
If we’re talking about Kharadron Overlords, we want boats. This list absolutely delivers that.
An Arkanaut Ironclad is one of those models that defines the army both visually and on the table. Pairing it with a Frigate and a Gunhauler gives the list a strong airborne identity and makes the whole thing feel dynamic. It is hard not to imagine this army actually sweeping across the battlefield as a proper sky-fleet.
A support package that makes sense
The hero section is interesting because it doesn’t look accidental at all.
- The Arkanaut Admiral gives the list a clear command presence.
- The Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit fits naturally into a boat-heavy force.
- The Aetheric Navigator adds that classic Kharadron flavour and utility.
- The Codewright is a neat inclusion that makes the list feel a bit more considered than just taking the obvious headline pieces.
We like lists that feel built with a plan, and this one definitely gives that impression.
Flexible utility units
The Endrinriggers and Skywardens are the kind of units that make a list feel more complete. They add movement, board presence, and options. Even in a fairly compact package, they help the army avoid becoming too one-note.
On top of that, the pair of Arkanaut Companies plus Thunderers gives a basic but sensible infantry core. Nothing flashy for the sake of it—just units that help hold the structure together.
The interesting bit: 1930 points
One thing we immediately noticed is that the list sits at 1930, not a full 2000.
That is not necessarily a problem—sometimes a list just lands there because the unit package makes sense and forcing the last points can do more harm than good. But it is definitely the kind of thing that sparks discussion in the group.
Do we keep the clean structure and accept the 70-point gap? Or do we start tinkering for maximum efficiency?
That is one of our favourite parts of army-building in general: the moment when a list is already clearly something, but there is still room to debate whether it should stay elegant or get squeezed for every last point.
Why we enjoy posts like this
Not every hobby update needs a full battle report or a massive painting milestone. Sometimes the most relatable part of the hobby is just this:
- a rough morning,
- people travelling in from different places,
- someone asking who is showing up,
- and in the middle of it all, a list appears in chat and gets our brains working.
That is real hobby life.
Army-building often happens exactly like this—not in some perfect planning session, but between coffee, delays, messages, and trying to become human before noon.
Final thoughts
We are always happy to see Kharadron Overlords on the table, and this list has a lot of personality already. It leans into what makes the army cool: flying ships, layered support, and the feeling of a compact but purposeful expeditionary force.
Will it stay at 1930, or will this become one of those lists that gets adjusted five times before dice hit the table? Honestly, that is half the fun.
If nothing else, it definitely made the morning more interesting.
