Collector’s Edition Temptation Strikes Again
We’ve all been there: we look at a new release from Games Workshop and immediately spot the same old trick. The collector’s edition gets the gorgeous artwork, while the regular version gets a cover that somehow feels like it couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to be.
This time Wilini summed it up perfectly — yes, you can do it, James Workshop. And of course the collector’s edition looks great, while the standard edition gets the “for the peasants” treatment.

It’s such a classic GW move that we can’t even be properly surprised anymore. On one hand, we respect the hustle. On the other, it’s impossible not to grumble a bit when the nicer presentation is locked behind the pricier version.
Honestly, a good cover does a lot of heavy lifting in the hobby. Whether it’s a codex, battletome, novel, or special release, that first impression matters. And when the collector’s edition gets the artwork with real character, the regular one can end up feeling like an afterthought.
So yes — this is a small purchase-related rant from us, but a heartfelt one. We know exactly how this game works, and somehow it still works on us.
If nothing else, at least it gave us something to laugh about together.
