A Birthday Gift That Might Push Us Back Into Age of Sigmar
We love those hobby moments when one box on the table suddenly changes the plans for the next few months.
This time it started with a birthday present. Wilini got a gift from Michał and Matka, and honestly, that was enough to trigger the usual reaction in our group: well, looks like we’re going to have to cut some time out for Age of Sigmar soon.

The response in chat was exactly what you’d expect from us. Michał immediately went with the full-energy classic: “napierdalamy!”. Ender was also fully on board: AOS FTW! And that was basically it — the spark was there, and suddenly Age of Sigmar started feeling dangerously close again.
As usual, one purchase (or in this case, a gift) quickly opened the floodgates for more hobby plans. Ender admitted he’s waiting for the new Spearhead: Kharadron Overlords, which is a very fair and very relatable place to be. On top of that, he’s already started painting at what he described as a turtle’s pace: five Arkanauts sprayed, two drybrushed, trousers under consideration, and completion expected sometime next year. Which, to be fair, is a hobby schedule we deeply respect.
That’s one of the things we like most about these moments. It’s not even about a giant purchase spree or some dramatic hobby declaration. Sometimes all it takes is one cool present, a bit of group hype, and suddenly we’re all mentally rearranging shelves, army cases, and painting priorities.
So yes — this may have been “just” a birthday gift, but we all know how these things go. First there’s a box. Then there’s excitement. Then someone says Age of Sigmar is back on the menu. Then someone else starts looking at Spearheads. Then there are Arkanauts on the desk.
And before long, we’re rolling dice again.
Current status
- Wilini got a birthday present from Michał and Matka
- Group hype for Age of Sigmar activated immediately
- Ender is waiting for the new Spearhead: Kharadron Overlords
- First Kharadron painting steps have already begun
- We are, apparently, doing this now
Honestly? Excellent outcome.
