From Shelf Horror to Table Terror: Michał’s Brood Terror Repaint
Sometimes a miniature just haunts the shelf
We all know that kind of project: an early print, an unfinished paint job, and a model that keeps staring at us from the shelf like a reminder of hobby debts unpaid. This time it was Michał’s Brood Terror.
According to Michał, it was one of his first prints, and… well, it showed. The original version never got fully finished and ended up becoming a proper shelf monster in the worst possible way.

The good kind of hobby comeback
Yesterday, Michał finally decided to do something about it and gave the model a full repaint. We always love these little hobby redemption arcs — taking an old piece, especially one tied to our early attempts at printing or painting, and turning it into something we actually want to put on the table.
And the result? A huge improvement, with the Brood Terror now looking like it belongs in a game instead of lurking in shame on the shelf.

Ready to smash some dwarfs
Best part: this wasn’t just a cleanup project for the display shelf. Michał says the freshly repainted beast will be chopping up dwarfs tomorrow. And honestly, that is exactly the kind of motivation we respect.
There’s something deeply satisfying about rescuing an old model and immediately throwing it into battle.
Why we like posts like this
Not every hobby update has to be a perfectly planned army showcase or a pristine new release. Sometimes the most fun comes from revisiting old models, especially the awkward early ones, and giving them another chance.
This Brood Terror may have started life as an ugly first print, but now it gets to do what every good monster should: terrify the enemy and make an impression on the tabletop.
We’re big fans of that kind of glow-up.
