A chronicle of our Warhammer journey - painting, battles, and hobby adventures.

The Last Kharadron and a Bit of Tomorrow’s Hype

We had one of those very hobby-shaped chat moments recently: half painting update, half game planning, and fully Warhammer.

The headline was simple: the last Kharadron is done.

end3r dropped a photo of what he called the last Kharadron, and honestly, that is always a satisfying milestone. Finishing the final model in a batch or army project has a special kind of energy to it — part relief, part pride, part immediate temptation to start the next thing.

Even in a short exchange, you can feel how naturally painting and gaming plans blend together for us. While end3r was still waiting to confirm whether tomorrow would be free for gaming at all, the mood was already there: if the stars aligned, we’d gladly get a game in. There was even the classic “in a pinch, maybe even The Old World” energy, which says a lot about how strong the need to roll dice can get.

At the same time, the rules talk kicked in almost immediately. Michał mentioned being very happy with Scourge of Ghyran, especially with the new battlescrolls feeling quite powerful. According to him, it gives Skaven a completely different feel on the table. That kind of comment is always dangerous, because once somebody says a faction suddenly feels fresh again, everyone else starts checking what their own army gets out of the update.

And that is exactly where the conversation went next: end3r immediately wondered what Ghyran does for Kharadron Overlords — while also suspecting the answer might be “not that much”. Very relatable. Sometimes a new supplement makes one army feel reborn, and another mostly gets to stand nearby and nod politely.

So this was a small moment, but a very familiar one: one finished miniature, tentative plans for tomorrow, light faction jealousy, and a bit of rules curiosity. Pretty much the perfect hobby mix.

If tomorrow’s game actually happens, we’ll definitely be curious whether the freshly finished Kharadron get to see the table — and whether Ghyran has anything sneaky in store for them after all.

Hobby takeaway

We like these moments because they capture what the hobby often looks like in real life:

  • someone finishes a model,
  • someone else starts theorycrafting rules,
  • somebody is still waiting to find out if real life allows a game at all,
  • and somehow that is enough to get everyone excited.

That’s Warhammer in a nutshell.
