Our little combat simulator escalated quickly
Sometimes the best hobby side-projects start with a simple idea and then, somehow, turn into a whole thing. That is pretty much what happened here.
Stas dropped an update on his little combat simulator and, well… it is not so little anymore. What started as a small tool has now grown with scraped army lists integrated by Michał, shooting added, and a whole pile of extra rules and items on top.
In short: it escalated, and we love to see it.
What Stas mentioned specifically:
- he integrated army lists scraped by Michał,
- he added shooting,
- and he packed in a lot more rules and items.
That is exactly the kind of project creep we can get behind. A “small simulator” turning into a proper sandbox for checking interactions, comparing units, and generally poking at the game from a slightly more mathematical angle feels extremely on-brand for our group.
We also really like these kinds of tools because they sit in a nice space between pure theoryhammer and actual games on the table. Sometimes you just want to check how a matchup might look, how much shooting changes the equation, or whether a certain bit of gear is worth the points before you start moving models around.
So if you enjoy this sort of thing, go have a look and click around. It already sounds much bigger than the original “little simulator” description suggests.
And honestly, the phrase “my little combat simulator escalated a bit” may be one of the most relatable hobby-dev status updates we have heard in a while.
