First Proper Effort, and It Shows
Michał dropped a few photos into our chat recently and, honestly, this is exactly the kind of hobby moment we love sharing on Wiatry Magii.
He summed it up in the most relatable way possible: it’s not some amazing display-level paintjob, but he’s really happy with it. And you know what? We get that completely. Sometimes the most satisfying miniature is not the technically perfect one, but the one where you can feel that extra effort went in.

From the photos alone, it already looks great, but Michał also mentioned something every hobbyist knows too well: good lighting changes everything. In better light, the miniature has stronger contrast and looks a bit more lively in person than it does in the quick photos. That’s such a familiar feeling — you finish something, look at it on the desk, feel great about it… and then the camera decides to flatten half the work.

One of our favourite details here is the base. Michał mentioned that he made the stone himself out of styrofoam, which gives the whole model a lot more character. It’s a small thing, but it really helps turn a painted figure into a little scene.

And maybe the best part of the whole exchange was the reaction from the rest of us. Staś immediately went with “world-class” praise and added that he had already seen the miniature in person and it looked beautiful even then. Michał laughed it off a bit, thanked everyone, and admitted that this was the first time he really tried.
That line probably explains why the piece feels so satisfying. We all know that moment when we stop just trying to get a model painted and instead actually sit down and give it proper attention. It doesn’t have to be competition painting. It just has to feel like we cared.

Ender summed it up nicely too: wow, it looks great! And honestly, yes — it does.
We’re always happy to see this kind of hobby progress in our group chat: not chasing perfection, just enjoying the moment when a miniature comes together and we can say, yeah, this one worked.
