Cities of Sigmar Ogre? Now That’s a Proper Beast

We had one of those very relatable hobby moments recently: someone drops a single model pic on chat, and suddenly the whole group starts thinking about new army ideas.

The reaction was immediate — what an absolute beast. And honestly, that really sums it up.

What really caught our attention was just how strong some of the newer Cities of Sigmar designs are. The follow-up from the chat was also very on point: the version with the flamethrower is awesome too. That kind of kit is dangerous in the best possible way — not on the tabletop yet, but for hobby plans. Once we start looking at alternate builds and weapon options, it’s over. The brain is already writing lists.

And that led us straight into the most interesting part of the conversation: how to adapt some of these Cities of Sigmar models into Renegade Crowns for Warhammer: The Old World.

That feels like a genuinely fun direction. There’s a lot of character in those kits, and they seem like they could bring a really distinct look to a Renegade Crowns force if handled carefully. Not in a copy-paste way, but as a proper conversion and army-building project — the kind where we sit down, look at the range properly, and start matching models to units, characters, and weird little thematic roles.

Right now this is still in the “we need to sit down and think it through properly” phase, but that’s often where the best army ideas begin. One striking model, one enthusiastic reaction, one comment about an alternate weapon option — and suddenly there’s a whole conversion project lurking in the background.

We’re definitely curious to see where this goes. If the rest of the range hits anywhere near this level, there may be some very tempting additions on the horizon for a future Renegade Crowns force.
