Marta Chose Daughters of Khaine, and We’re Already Thinking About Bases
We had one of those very classic hobby-chat moments: one photo appears in the group, someone spots a new box, and five minutes later we’re discussing bases, Spearheads, Old World compatibility, and whether this might finally be the thing that gets another person into Age of Sigmar.
The big news is simple: Marta decided to go with Daughters of Khaine — and honestly, we’re very happy about it. Michał summed it up perfectly right away: he was just glad she made the choice.

Of course, because this is us, the conversation immediately drifted into the eternal question: square bases now, or round bases with adapters for The Old World later? Michał asked whether Marta would go straight to squares, or keep them on round bases and use adapters if TOW ever becomes part of the plan.

Paweł quickly clarified that this purchase is for Age of Sigmar, not some stealth Old World conversion project. As he put it, he’s not nearly as deep into The Old World as some of the rest of us yet, so he’s not converting everything over. Fair enough — and honestly, that sounds like the healthiest possible approach when you’re just trying to get cool models on the table.
And speaking of cool models: Pegie found the new Daughters of Khaine Spearhead: Khainite Shadow Coven and immediately clocked what many of us were thinking — this faction has always looked great. Michał also pointed out the obvious crossover appeal here: for people with Old World instincts, there’s definitely a dark elf vibe that makes the box even more tempting.
There was also a small moment of hobby confusion that we absolutely respect: Pegie only found this new Spearhead because he randomly wanted to check the older one after seeing Paweł’s photo. That’s exactly how many purchases begin.
A few minutes later, after checking the release timing, it turned out this wasn’t just some weird early listing — the box had actually gone on sale five days earlier. So yes, it really is that new.
Pegie then dug up the Spearhead rules PDF and the first impression was pretty straightforward: this looks interesting, and maybe pretty strong too. We’re not doing a full tactical breakdown here, but it definitely added to the feeling that this wasn’t just a visually cool pickup.
Meanwhile, Ender had his own side quest in the conversation: while painting a lot of Kill Team lately, he keeps getting reminded by Kasia that he promised her some pink elves to paint. So now he’s also considering some kind of starter, with the excellent observation that it would make a perfect communion gift. Very practical hobby planning.
Paweł also dropped one more photo into chat, followed by the entirely fair reaction: “what a beast.”

What we like most here is that this kind of purchase always does more than just add another box to the pile. It opens up possibilities. In this case, Paweł is already hoping Marta might eventually be up for Stormcast vs Sylvaneth at some point, and now there’s also a real chance that Daughters of Khaine join the local rotation too.
So this was a very small but very wholesome hobby moment for us: a new faction chosen, a genuinely striking Spearhead box discovered, a quick detour into base philosophy, and at least one more person in the group now thinking about elf-themed purchases.
Also, because no hobby chat can stay on one topic for long, Michał tossed in a useful video for magnetizing flying stands for bigger models. Not directly related to the Daughters of Khaine box, but absolutely the kind of practical hobby tech we end up saving for later.
Now we just wait for the next stage: assembly, paint choices, and the inevitable moment when someone says, “okay, but what if we also got just one more box…”
