Warp Walkers Grow: Globadiers, Characters and a Warp Lightning Cannon

This weekend Michał added a solid chunk of reinforcements to the Warp Walkers. It is always a good feeling when an army suddenly starts looking like a real force on the shelf, and this update definitely has that energy.

First up: five Globadiers joined the crew. A small unit, but one that adds a lot of character to a Skaven collection straight away. We really like how quickly a few specialist models can change the look of the whole army.

On top of that, Michał also finished a Warlock Engineer and a Master Moulder. These kinds of character models are always fun in Skaven forces: lots of personality, lots of weird gear, and plenty of room for that classic mad-scientist-meets-rat-monster vibe.

And then there is the artillery piece: a Warp Lightning Cannon. Or, more precisely, this is actually a Ratling Warpblaster model being repurposed for the role.

Michał mentioned that the Ratling Warpblaster feels pretty underwhelming in Age of Sigmar, and in Warhammer: The Old World there is not really an equivalent unit to use it as. Because of that, it is getting a second life as a Warp Lightning Cannon instead. Honestly, we are big fans of this kind of practical hobby decision. If a model looks cool, it deserves table time.

A nice extra detail here is that the original Warp Lightning Cannon is being left untouched, just in case we ever decide to go back to Spearhead. We always appreciate that balance between playing what works now and keeping options open for future games.

Wilini summed it up perfectly in chat: there is already a lot painted here, and it really shows. The force is growing fast.

Meanwhile, on another painting front, Wilini said he might sit down after work and continue painting the damsel on horseback. So the hobby desk is still very much alive across the whole group.

For now though, this post belongs to the rats. More painted Skaven on the table is never a bad thing.
