Angels of Death Taking Shape: First Six Models Ready for the Roster
We had one of those very relatable hobby exchanges this week: first a bit of joking about inevitable nerfs, and then straight into actual progress on the desk.
As wilini put it, by the time everything is ready, it will probably get nerfed anyway. End3r answered in the same spirit that his new AoD will probably get hit too, so no stress. Honestly, that feels like a pretty classic Warhammer attitude: build it, paint it, play it, and worry about the meta later.
A few days later, though, the real update landed — the AoD are now cleaned up and assembled.

That is always a satisfying milestone. End3r was hoping they would already be primed with a zenithal coat that same evening, but there was still time until Wednesday, so no need to rush it. We know that feeling well: the plan in our heads is always a bit ahead of what our hobby time actually allows.
The more interesting bit for army-building was the roster plan. The first six models are meant to handle the nearest games, with the full roster later rounded out by two Assault operatives and two Warriors.

The six-model core is:
- Captain
- Heavy Gunner
- Sniper
- Assault
- Gunner
- Grenadier
According to End3r, sergeants are basically not seeing play in the current meta, so a 10-model pool should be enough. That gives this little project a nice practical shape: not an endlessly expanding collection, but a focused Kill Team roster built with actual table use in mind.
We really like this kind of approach. It is compact, purposeful, and still leaves room for adapting to matchups by filling out the roster with those extra Assaults and Warriors. It is also a good reminder that army-building at skirmish scale can be very satisfying: a handful of carefully chosen specialists, a clear plan for the next additions, and a realistic painting deadline.
Now we just wait for the primer and zenithal stage — and, naturally, for the meta to do whatever the meta does.
