500 Points in the Jungle: Warriors of Chaos vs Lizardmen

Today Michał threw down a small but very cinematic 500-point game, with Warriors of Chaos crashing into Lizardmen defending the jungle approaches to Amaxon.

Right from the start, this was not going to be an easy ride for Chaos. The battlefield was split by a river running through the middle, and that mattered a lot — the Lizardmen could ignore it thanks to Aquatic, while the Chaos force had to wrestle not only with the enemy, but with the terrain itself.

On the Chaos side, the army was tiny in model count but very elite: 8 knights, a chariot, and a lord on a daemonic mount — just 10 models in total. Across from them, the Lizardmen brought a very different kind of force. There were enough wounds in the Kroxigors alone to make the Chaos player sweat, and they were backed up by 10 Saurus, 12 Skinks, and a veteran leading from atop a Cold One.

The battlefield river made life much easier for the Aquatic Lizardmen

It sounds like one of those classic small-game matchups we really enjoy: a handful of terrifying heavy hitters trying to smash through a more flexible defending force in difficult terrain.

The battle itself quickly turned chaotic in the best possible way. The chariot went down fast, which immediately put more pressure on the knights to do the heavy lifting. But Frenzy had its own plans for them — with compulsory charges and pursuits, they ended up being dragged all over the table. Instead of a clean, controlled advance, it became a wild ride through the jungle outskirts and across the dangerous river, whose swift current tried to carry them away.

Despite all that, the Chaos cavalry eventually did what Chaos cavalry does best: they ground their way through the defenders and managed to clear the outskirts of Amaxon of lizards.

We really like these small games for exactly this reason. Even at 500 points, you still get memorable moments: a river becoming a major tactical problem, Frenzy pulling elite units out of position, a chariot disappearing almost immediately, and then the surviving knights somehow still getting the job done in the end.

A short, brutal clash — and a very fitting little battle report from the jungle front.
