Done Is Better Than Perfect: Wrapping Up a Knight
Sometimes a model fights us all the way to the finish line.
This time it was Wilini who hit that very familiar hobby wall: the final stretch of painting, when we can already see the end, our patience is gone, and every tiny mistake suddenly feels ten times more annoying. In Wilini’s own words, there are a few streaks and some rough spots here and there — but honestly, we know this feeling well: at some point you just have to call it done and move on.
And you know what? it absolutely paid off. The finished model looks great and has that strong tabletop presence we always love to see.
We really like these moments in the hobby, because they are very real. Not every painted miniature is the result of endless glazing, perfect edge highlights, and zen-like calm. Sometimes it’s powered by stubbornness, a bit of frustration, and the pure desire to finally get the thing off the desk. That still counts. Honestly, maybe it counts even more.
The best part is that the reaction from the rest of us was immediate: Stas called it a bold, nice job, and End3r said it looks great too. That’s one of the nicest things about sharing progress in a group — even when we’re tired of looking at a model, someone else can remind us that the final result still slaps.
Now that this one is finished, Wilini already has the next hobby dilemma lined up: the Green Knight or finally finishing the peasant archers. Which is, let’s be honest, also a very classic Warhammer problem — do we paint the cool centerpiece model next, or do we behave responsibly and finish the rank-and-file first?
We fully support either option. The important thing is that another model is done, the army grows, and the painting queue keeps rolling.
Sometimes that’s exactly what the hobby is about.
