A Small Wartable Order: Cogfort Temptation and Necromunda Squats
It was supposed to be a peaceful holiday… and then hobby temptation struck
Sometimes it really feels like the hobby has a sixth sense for bad timing. The moment one of us tries to go on holiday in peace, something shiny appears on the horizon and immediately starts whispering “buy me”.
That was exactly the mood when Michał dropped this gem into chat:
And honestly, we get it. The Cogfort has exactly that kind of energy — the sort of release that makes you stop whatever you were doing and start wondering whether your pile of shame really needs to grow just a little bit more.
Group order? Maybe that will make it hurt less
Very quickly the conversation moved from “look at this thing” to “if you’re ordering, let us know”. Ender was already leaning toward grabbing a few Necromunda Squat models anyway, so combining an order sounded like the sensible option. Or at least the kind of “sensible” that hobbyists like us tell ourselves when we are absolutely about to spend money on toy soldiers.
At that point Ender put together his shortlist:
A very respectable little Squat bundle, and a very dangerous one if you are trying to pretend you are being financially responsible.
The classic hobby problem: wanting new models while owning too many old ones
A few days later Ender checked again whether we were doing a combined order and if anyone else wanted in. Michał’s answer was painfully relatable: he was not buying anything until he painted what he already had.
Well… more or less.
Because, as is tradition, that statement was immediately softened into something much more realistic: not everything, just maybe until around 5–6k points were painted.
Which, let’s be honest, is a very Warhammer kind of sentence.
Free shipping. Except not really
In the end Ender decided he would just sort out those four models for himself. On paper it looked pretty good: the promo brought the total to just under $40, and the shop was apparently advertising free shipping above $20.
So naturally shipping still showed up as $5.
A classic online shopping moment. Not exactly a disaster, but enough to trigger that immediate “hang on a second…” reaction.
The slightly weird payment process
Then came the next little surprise: at checkout the only available option looked like Manual Payment, and clicking the usual payment buttons did not seem to do anything. The order just sat there as Pending.
Luckily Michał had already been through that process and explained how it worked: the shop sends a separate email with a payment link.
And sure enough, a bit later the PayPal payment request arrived and everything made sense again.
So if anyone else is ordering from Wartable and gets confused by the checkout flow — apparently that is just how it works there.
Final score
This one ended up being less of a big club order and more of a small, focused pickup, but it still had all the usual hobby shopping beats:
- one dangerous new release appearing at exactly the wrong moment,
- a brief attempt at organizing a combined order,
- a declaration that no more models will be bought before painting the backlog,
- immediate erosion of that declaration,
- suspiciously not-free free shipping,
- and a checkout process that looks broken until the email arrives.
So, in short: a completely normal Warhammer purchase story.
If nothing else, Ender now has four Squat models lined up, and Michał is still bravely trying to resist adding more to the queue before enough of the existing pile gets painted.
