Squats Have Arrived: First Impressions of the New Purchase
We’ve got a small purchase update today: the Squats finally arrived.
From the first look, the plastic feels a bit different from the Vulkan material we’ve seen before. We’re not going to pretend to be materials experts, but the overall first impression was good. Nothing immediately felt cheap or suspicious, and at a glance it all looked perfectly fine.
One thing that really stood out was the packaging. These minis were packed hard. Honestly, if nothing snapped in transport, then respect to both the packaging job and the material itself. That kind of overprotection is something we definitely prefer over opening a parcel full of loose bits and regret.
After a closer inspection, end3r checked the Claim Jumper in detail and found a few issues. The pickaxe was bent, and when he tried to straighten it, it snapped. There are also quite a few thick mould lines here and there. So it’s not a flawless kit out of the box.
That said, it still feels manageable. The cleanup looks very doable, and the material itself seems solid enough. For the price, we’d say it’s absolutely acceptable. Once painted, we really don’t expect the differences in material or those rougher spots to be noticeable at all.
So overall: not perfect, but a decent buy. A bit of hobby work will be needed before paint, but that’s hardly unusual around here.
