Pegie Tests a New Look for a Properly Terrifying Army
Pegi dropped a small painting update on the chat this weekend, and it was exactly the kind of post we love seeing: work still in progress, honest thoughts about what works and what does not, and already a very clear feeling that the whole force is going to look fantastic on the table.
In his own words, it is not quite there yet and not exactly how he wanted it from the start — but he already knows much better what is working and what is not. And honestly, that is such a relatable stage of the hobby. Sometimes the most important breakthrough is not finishing a model, but figuring out the visual language of the army.

And yeah — that really seems to be the key word here.
The first shots already show a really strong atmosphere. Even without knowing every step of the recipe, you can see this is heading toward something grim, unsettling, and full of character. It has that lovely experimental energy where the painter is clearly still tuning the approach, but the army identity is already starting to lock in.
What we especially like in updates like this is seeing that midpoint between concept and confidence. You can almost watch the scheme becoming more deliberate from model to model. That moment when someone says “okay, now I know what to push further” is usually when an army starts becoming really dangerous — in the best hobby sense.
And the overall vibe? Definitely nightmare fuel. There is something very satisfying about a force that does not just look good technically, but also lands emotionally. If the goal is to make the opponent feel a little uneasy when these hit the table, then this is going in exactly the right direction.
For now, this is still very much a progress report rather than a grand reveal, but those are often our favorite kinds of hobby posts. They show the real process: trying things, adjusting, learning what the army wants to be.
