Our First Polish Zine for Warhammer: The Old World
Our First Polish Zine for Warhammer: The Old World
We’re really happy to finally share this one: our first Polish zine dedicated to Warhammer: The Old World.
When The Old World launched in 2024 as a revival of the old Warhammer Fantasy Battle line, it immediately hit us right in the hobby heart. The chance to return to the Old World, dust off miniatures that had been sitting on shelves for years, and put them back on the table was just too tempting to ignore.
So naturally, we did what we usually do when something in Warhammer grabs us completely: we built a campaign around it.
Back to the Border Princes
Our campaign was set in the Border Princes, which felt like the perfect place for a scrappy, narrative-driven adventure. Since we were still learning the system, we didn’t want to jump straight into massive battles. Instead, we focused on smaller games inspired by the classic Border Patrol style.
That approach worked brilliantly for us. It let us get familiar with the rules, try out different units, and tell a story without needing to commit to huge armies right away.
And honestly? The campaign turned out to be such a great experience that we didn’t want to leave it as just a set of notes and house rules buried somewhere in our folders.
So we decided to turn it into something more tangible: a zine with the rules we created for our own campaign.
What’s inside
The campaign is designed for 2, 4, or 6 players and consists of six scenarios.
One of the things we really like about the format is how approachable it is:
- each player creates a 1000-point roster,
- but for each scenario you field up to 500 points.
That gives the whole thing a really nice balance. There’s enough room for campaign development and list-building choices, but the actual games stay manageable, fast, and focused. For us, that was a big part of the charm — especially while we were still getting comfortable with The Old World.
Why we wanted to publish it
This zine comes directly from our own table. It grew out of actual games, post-battle discussions, learning moments, and that very specific kind of excitement that comes from rediscovering an old setting in a new form.
We know we’re definitely not the only people who looked at The Old World and thought:
“Wait, does this mean we can finally bring those old armies back?”
If that sounds familiar, then this little project is very much for you.
A small thing, but close to our hearts
We love projects like this. Not because they’re huge, polished, official releases — but because they come from real hobby energy. A campaign that started as a way to learn the game turned into something memorable enough that we wanted to share it with other players.
And honestly, that’s one of our favorite things in this hobby: when playing, tinkering, and storytelling all come together.
If you’re into narrative play, smaller formats, or just looking for a fun way to explore Warhammer: The Old World, we’re really excited to put this zine into the world.
