Black Orcs and Impetuosity: a Tiny Rule, a Lot of Character
Sometimes it’s the smallest rules notes that add the most character to a game world.
This time we got excited over a detail that immediately felt right for the setting: Black Orcs do not automatically cancel Impetuosity. Stas summed it up perfectly in chat — super and, in his words, very atmospheric.

On paper, this is just a short rules interaction. In practice, though, it says a lot about how the army feels on the table. We really like these moments where mechanics and lore meet in a natural way. Black Orcs are disciplined by greenskin standards, sure — but they are still part of that same brutal, aggressive world. Letting that wild edge remain instead of neatly switching it off makes the whole thing feel more believable.
That’s probably why this little detail landed so well with us. It doesn’t read like a sterile exception added for convenience. It reads like something that helps preserve the identity of the faction. The army keeps its roughness, its unpredictability, and that sense that even the “controlled” elements are never fully tame.
And honestly, that’s one of our favorite things in Warhammer lore-heavy design: when a rule is not only functional, but also tells a story. A tiny line in a profile or a special rule can sometimes do more for immersion than a whole page of flavor text.
So yes — this was a small discovery, but one we appreciated a lot. More of this, please.
If you enjoy these little lore-meets-rules moments as much as we do, this one was a great example.
