Wiatry Magii

A chronicle of our Warhammer journey - painting, battles, and hobby adventures.

Necromunda campaign wrapped up, Kill Team plans brewing, and Squats on the desk

We had one of those hobby updates that says a lot about where our gaming table is heading over the next few months: one campaign ended, a few new plans appeared immediately, and of course there are fresh models already on the workbench.

Necromunda at 2d6: campaign finished

end3r wrapped up the Necromunda campaign at 2d6 and the result was, in his own words, pure domination.

After two early losses against the organizer, everything clicked into place and the rest of the campaign went his way. That kind of turnaround always feels great — a rough start, then a proper comeback and a strong finish.

Necromunda campaign standings

From the sound of it, the organizer is a bit less keen on running another new Necromunda campaign right now, especially with the big Warsaw campaign on the horizon. That is understandable — these things take time and energy, and sometimes one big event is enough to fill the calendar.

But that does not mean less gaming

The good news is that this does not sound like a full retreat from the tabletop at all. Quite the opposite. There is talk about coming back to Kill Team and getting some games in there, and the same goes for Warhammer 40k.

So while Necromunda may be taking a short breather locally, it looks like skirmish and full-size 40k are both very much alive in the near future.

And naturally, there is already a vehicle ready for 40k.

We always like these moments in the hobby cycle: one project closes, another opens immediately, and suddenly the conversation jumps from campaign results to future Kill Team rosters and 40k plans.

A quick Age of Sigmar side note

There was also a small Age of Sigmar detour in the chat. Michał mentioned that Komoroff also plays AoS, specifically Sylvaneth. Apparently there is still a memorable game sitting in the archives there — one that came down to a single failed charge.

That is such a classic Warhammer story. Sometimes an entire game really does hinge on one roll.

Meanwhile on the hobby desk: Squats

And because no update is complete without some actual plastic progress, end3r also reported that the basic Squats are already assembled, with weapons and heads magnetized. On top of that, the drill/charter masters have also been started.

That is exactly the kind of practical hobby progress we love seeing: not just getting models built, but building them in a way that leaves options open for future games and loadouts.

Squats work in progress

So for us, this was a very fun little snapshot of hobby life:

  • Necromunda campaign done
  • end3r finishing with a very strong result
  • possible pause in local campaign organizing
  • Kill Team and Warhammer 40k getting more attention again
  • Age of Sigmar still lurking in the background
  • Squats steadily moving forward on the painting and assembly table

Honestly, that is a pretty healthy place for a group to be. One event ends, and instead of silence, there is immediately a queue of new games and new models waiting.

If this is how the next stretch starts, we are very much in.
