Necromunda Painting Progress: Green Layers, Big Plans

We had one of those very relatable hobby moments recently: looking at the pile of work still ahead of us and doing the mental math before a campaign deadline.

End3r dropped a quick painting update and, honestly, it sounds familiar — at this pace there is still at least a month of painting left, while the current Necromunda campaign wraps up in two weeks. So the realistic hope is that these models will be ready for the start of the next campaign instead.

That kind of slow-and-steady progress is just part of the hobby sometimes, especially when the plan is not just to get paint on the model, but to build the effect properly in layers.

Michał immediately pointed out that the big model looks really cool, but also asked an important question: was it brushed on a bit thin, or was that intentional?

And yes — completely intentional.

The current stage is just the foundation. End3r explained that the large model is going to get two more green layers, so most of what we see now will nearly disappear under the final treatment. After that, it will get strong bright green highlights across the whole model.

We really like hearing about this kind of plan, because it is a good reminder that a work-in-progress shot can be misleading if we judge it too early. Sometimes a model looks patchy or understated in the middle stages precisely because it is being built toward a much stronger final result.

So for now, this is very much a “trust the process” project — and we are definitely curious to see how that big guy looks once the greens are fully built up and the highlights start doing their job.

If all goes well, maybe not for the end of the current campaign, but for the opening of the next one.
